About this opportunity

This scholarship has been developed to support an outstanding postgraduate research student at the Faculty of Science to undertake interdisciplinary research at the interface of statistics and health. The scholarship is specifically designed for PhD candidates working in statistical bioinformatics with a focus on precision cardiovascular disease. The research will be supervised by Professor Jean Yang from the Faculty of Science, School of Mathematics and Statistics as the primary supervisor, with Professor Gemma Figtree as the co-supervisor. This scholarship is supported by the Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship and provides funding for up to 3.5 years of full-time doctoral study.

Selection based on academic achievement, research experience, CV, feedback from two academic referees, personal statement demonstrating strong interest in bioinformatics, and demonstration of excellent skills in omics data analysis and R-coding. Final decision by Higher Degrees by Research Scholarships Sub-Committee on recommendation of Professor Gemma Figtree.
