Professional Placement Year Bursary

The Professional Placement Year Bursary is a financial support program introduced in 2024 by Bath Spa University to make work experience more accessible for students. Available for students undertaking a Professional Placement Year (PPY) between their second and third years of academic study, the bursary provides £500-£1,500 to help cover placement-related costs such as travel, food, workwear, or accommodation. The bursary is paid in two instalments, with the first payment made after the placement start date once approved by the University, and the second payment typically in January. The amount awarded depends on eligibility criteria organized into three tiers, with tier one offering £1,500 for students meeting specific disadvantage criteria, tier two offering £1,000 for those meeting alternative criteria, and tier three offering £500 to all other eligible students. There is no application process required; the University automatically determines eligibility once placement details are submitted and notifies students via email.
