About this opportunity
The Aidan Moran Prize in Data Science and Analytics is awarded annually to the top-performing, final year, undergraduate student in the BSc Data Science and Analytics programme at University College Cork. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous UCC alumni donor, this prize honors Professor Michael A. (Aidan) Moran, who was appointed to the Chair of Statistics in 1975 and held the position until 1989 when he became Registrar. Professor Moran was instrumental in sending many students of Statistics to the U.S. to do a Ph.D. in Statistics, and many returned to develop Statistics in Ireland. The prize recognizes academic excellence in the field of data science and analytics and is awarded to the student with the highest performance in their final year of the undergraduate program.
