About This Opportunity

The purpose of the project grant is to give researchers the freedom to formulate their own research concept, method and implementation, and to solve a specific research task within a limited period. This is a project grant with focus, aimed at supporting research into democracy, societal resilience and reform processes. The research projects are expected to generate new knowledge that can support democracy, societal resilience, and reform processes in Sweden's immediate neighbourhood. Applications from all fields of science, as well as interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches, are welcome. In times of democratic backsliding, instability, and increasing geopolitical tensions, there is a growing need for research that examines how democratic institutions can contribute to peace, security, and resilience both in Eastern Europe and globally. Of particular relevance are studies examining the interaction between democracy, security, and sustainable societal development. This includes, for example, how education, economic growth, job creation, trade, innovation, and the green and digital transitions can strengthen the durability of democracy and promote stability and reform capacity.
