About this opportunity
The Swedish Research Council is issuing a call for project grants to support research into racism as part of a specific Government mandate. The purpose of the project grant is to give researchers the freedom to formulate the research concept, method and implementation themselves, as well as to solve a specific research task within a limited period. The call is intended to increase knowledge in the area and thereby contribute to reducing the prevalence of racism in Swedish society. Applications may include both the background to and explanations of racism, its development over time and its consequences for individuals and societies. They may also focus on the design, implementation, and effects of various types of measures to counter the occurrence and consequences of racism. The research may also address related areas such as discrimination, xenophobia, migration and integration, human rights, racial biology, slavery, and violent extremism. Applications may derive from different scholarly disciplines and may also include multi-disciplinary or cross-disciplinary perspectives and research teams. Both contemporary and historical circumstances may be studied, and the research may cover both local and national circumstances, as well as international comparisons.
