About this opportunity

This is a project grant from the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) specifically aimed at supporting research on democracy and societal resilience. The purpose of this project grant is to give researchers the freedom to formulate their own research ideas, methods, and execution, and to solve a defined research task within a limited time. Research projects should contribute to new knowledge about how democratic societies can be strengthened to handle challenges ranging from local to global in a changing world. Applications from all scientific areas as well as interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches are welcomed. The grant's relevant questions about democracy and societal resilience can be examined from various perspectives, such as how institutional, economic, communicative, cultural, and other societal factors can contribute to democracy's long-term sustainability in Eastern Europe and globally, how democracy, rule of law, and administration can be maintained and reformed during times of political instability, how educational systems and artistic activities can promote democracy and civic engagement, or how historical and cultural processes can affect democracy's development.
