About this opportunity

The Swedish Research Council offers project grants within artistic research to support research on artistic grounds. The grant provides freedom for researchers to formulate their own research ideas, methods, and execution, and to solve a defined research task within a limited time. Artistic research encompasses research on artistic grounds within all artistic fields, including architecture, visual arts, circus, dance and choreography, design, film, photography, crafts, curatorial practices, literature, music, opera, performance, theatre, and artistic interdisciplinary activities. The funding is intended for individual researchers in collaboration with their organizations (Swedish universities or other approved Swedish organizations). The grant supports all project-related costs including salaries, premises, operational costs, and depreciation costs. Applications will be assessed by a specialized review group consisting of Swedish and international researchers based on criteria including quality of artistic research, innovation, applicant competence, feasibility, and relevance. The funding period can range from 1 to 3 years starting in January 2027, with grant amounts ranging from 400,000 to 1,500,000 SEK per year.
