About this opportunity

This is a research project grant within educational sciences offered by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). The purpose of the grant is to give researchers the freedom to formulate their own research ideas, methods, and implementation, and to solve a defined research task within a limited time. The grant supports research projects in all areas of educational sciences with no thematic restrictions. Projects can run from 1 to 4 years starting in January 2026, with funding available from a minimum of 400,000 SEK per year to a maximum of 1,300,000 SEK per year. The grant is applied for by individual researchers in collaboration with their Swedish university or higher education institution. Researchers must have a doctoral degree by the application deadline and must be employed by the administering institution during the entire grant period. The application requires a comprehensive research plan, CV, publication list, budget justification, and consideration of ethical aspects and gender perspectives in the research.

Review process

Applications are assessed by a review panel consisting of Swedish and international researchers. At least three panel members individually review and grade each application. The entire review panel then meets to discuss and prioritize applications before submitting recommendations to the Educational Sciences Committee.
