About This Opportunity

The Pure Math Doctoral Thesis Completion Award is offered by the Department of Pure Mathematics at the University of Waterloo to support doctoral students who are nearing completion of their degree. This award is available each academic term to full-time doctoral students who are within the term limits of their program and within the last two terms of program completion. The award value varies based on the cost associated with achieving a Teaching Assistantship (TA) reduction, allowing students to focus on completing their thesis without employment obligations. Selection is made by a committee chaired by the Associate Chair Graduate Studies in the Department of Pure Mathematics, based on a departmental application procedure. Students must be in good academic standing and on track to complete their degree within 1-2 terms of receiving the award. The award is available to both Canadian permanent residents and international students on study permits.
