About this opportunity

The Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST) is a merit-based scholarship program targeted specifically toward graduate students in science and technology fields at publicly-assisted universities in Ontario. Introduced in 1998 by the Ontario government, the program encourages excellence in graduate studies and is jointly funded by the Ontario government (contributing two-thirds of the value) and participating institutions (providing one-third). As of the 2016-2017 competition, QEII-GSST awards are granted through the same competition process as the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS), with the key distinction that QEII-GSST is exclusively available to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents enrolled in research graduate programs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields. Both scholarships carry equal prestige and recognize outstanding academic achievement. Recipients of QEII-GSST at the University of Waterloo are also eligible for the President's Graduate Scholarship (PGS), which celebrates their outstanding academic achievement.
