About This Opportunity

The R.A. Kelln – J. Neuhard Graduate Entrance Scholarship in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology was established by Dr. Rod Kelln, Professor of Chemistry/Biochemistry, and Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research to assist graduate students entering a graduate program in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology at the University of Regina. The scholarship commemorates the research collaboration between Dr. Rod Kelln and Dr. Jan Neuhard that has been ongoing since 1982, funded through several jointly held NATO International Collaborative Scientific Research Grants and individual grants from NSERC and Danish Science Foundation. Dr. J. Neuhard is a leading expert in pyrimidine metabolism in bacterial cells and recognized worldwide for his pioneering work in biochemistry and genetics, having retired in 2004 from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. The scholarship will be presented annually in the fall to a University of Regina graduate student entering or in the first semester of study of a graduate program in Biochemistry or in a Molecular Biology research theme in the Department of Biology. Recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 80% or equivalent and be registered as full-time students in the fall semester when the award is presented. Only one award is presented on a yearly basis, with no award available for the winter semester if it is presented in the fall.
