About this opportunity

The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Indigenous Health Committee in conjunction with the Foundation for Surgery offers scholarships to assist final year medical students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. The scholarship covers costs of undertaking surgical-related education, training and/or research opportunities in Australia or New Zealand that will result in the acquisition of new knowledge and skills to strengthen career portfolios. The scholarship may be used for course fees, travel and accommodation to attend surgical skills training workshops, attendance or presentation at medical, surgical or Indigenous Health conferences (with preference for research presentations), surgical related research projects, and other professional development activities deemed appropriate by the Indigenous Health Committee. Applicants must be interested in a career in surgery and provide confirmation of eligibility for membership to Te Ohu Rata o Aotearoa (Te ORA) or the Australian Indigenous Doctors' Association (AIDA). At the time of application, candidates must be enrolled in the final year of a medical degree at an Australian or Aotearoa New Zealand medical school.
