Ralph & Phyllis Ward Elite Athletic Award

The Ralph & Phyllis Ward Elite Athletic Award is a nominated scholarship supporting elite student-athletes at Red Deer Polytechnic. This award recognizes entrance students who are members of Red Deer Polytechnic Athletic Teams and have demonstrated high-level athletic achievement, specifically having been members of provincial teams or equivalent. The scholarship requires recipients to meet ACAC (Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference) and CCAA (Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association) eligibility requirements. Recipients are selected through a nomination process rather than direct application, with notifications sent by the Red Deer Polytechnic Athletics Department throughout the year. The selection is based on the coach's determination that the student-athlete will be an asset to the team. Five awards of $1,000 each are available annually. This scholarship is intended for new students entering Red Deer Polytechnic who combine academic pursuits with competitive athletics at the collegiate level. The award supports the institution's commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes who excel both in their sport and in their academic programs.
