About this opportunity
The Raman J. Ghei Social Justice Scholarship is funded by the generous gifts of Raman J. Ghei and is awarded to declared majors in the College of Letters & Science at UW-Milwaukee. This scholarship supports students who demonstrate commitment to racial equity, diversity, or social justice through community involvement and activities. The scholarship may be renewable for multiple years pending available funding and is specifically designed to support first-generation students with financial need who are engaged in social justice work.
Eligible students must be sophomores or juniors with at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA and be enrolled full-time. Recipients must be first-generation students (no parent or grandparent graduated from college) and demonstrate financial need as shown on the FAFSA. Students must show their interest or commitment to equity, inclusion, or social justice through their personal statement and/or evidence of participation in community activities, UWM groups, volunteer work, or other related work activities.
The scholarship award of $5,000 is given in spring for the following school year, so students graduating that same spring or summer are not eligible to receive the award.
