About this opportunity
The Randy Segboer Memorial Award was established in 2013 by Patti Segboer in memory of her husband, who served as chair of Fire & Emergency Services at Lakeland College. This memorial award recognizes excellence in the Emergency Services Technology program and honors Randy Segboer's legacy in the field.
The award is available to Emergency Services Technology students who demonstrate good academic standing, commitment to their chosen career in emergency services, and strong character and leadership skills. Recipients are selected based on their academic performance and demonstrated leadership qualities within the program.
Applicants must submit a 500-word essay addressing the topic: 'Lessons learned in the EST Program and how I can apply them in my future career.' This essay component allows students to reflect on their educational experience and articulate their professional development and career goals. Two references are also required as part of the application process.
The award amount varies each year and is intended to support continuing students in the Fire & Emergency Services program who exemplify the dedication and leadership that Randy Segboer represented throughout his career in emergency services education.
