About this opportunity

The Recognition Award in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is awarded annually by SWAAC (Senior Women Academic Administrators of Canada) to a member who has shown exceptional leadership, initiative and commitment in fostering or furthering diversity and inclusion at their institution. A donation of $1,000 will be made on the recipient's behalf to an institution of their choice, in the form of a contribution to an endowment or fund that supports initiatives to promote equity and diversity for students, staff, or faculty at their institution. Nominees must demonstrate evidence of leadership through various activities including: commitment to diversity as part of the institution's educational mission, public and academically oriented endeavors showing intellectual excellence and commitment to cultural diversity, creation of recruitment and retention initiatives to attract diverse faculty and staff, demonstrating activities to ensure success of a diverse student body, contributions to enhance campus climate for underrepresented and marginalized communities, and promotion of programs fostering inclusive campus culture. The nomination process requires a one-page summary addressing key areas forming the basis for nomination, accompanied by two letters of support from senior colleagues, one of whom is considered a representative of diversity within the institution. The Selection Committee consists of elected members of the Executive.
