About this opportunity
This residency opportunity is offered through IASPIS, the Swedish Arts Grants Committee's international program for visual arts and design practitioners. The residency is located at 1Shanthiroad Studio/Gallery in Bangalore, India, which was founded in 2003 by Suresh Jayaram and is the oldest and most established residency in Bangalore. The residency provides a workspace/studio, accommodation, and a stipend to cover travel and living expenses during the stay. The purpose of the Swedish Arts Grants Committee's international residencies is to support artists' opportunities to create, develop and deepen contacts abroad. The residency is centrally located and serves as a meeting place for many professional practitioners in the city, with connections to artists and collectives working with gender, sexuality and new media technologies. The building contains four small studio apartments for visiting foreign and Indian artists, a gallery for exhibitions, and a courtyard used for film screenings, workshops and meetings.
