Resource Teachers Learning and Behaviour Study Award

The Resource Teachers Learning and Behaviour Study Award provides support for Resource Teachers Learning and Behaviour (RTLB) to study Massey University's Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching (Learning and Behaviour). This annual study award is offered by the New Zealand Ministry of Education to support professional development in specialized teaching for learning and behaviour. The award covers the full amount of domestic tuition fees paid directly to Massey University, as well as a contribution towards travel and accommodation costs to attend block courses, which is paid to the applicant's lead school or cluster. This comprehensive support enables Resource Teachers to enhance their specialized skills in learning and behaviour support while maintaining their employment. Applications open on 1 August each year and close on 12 September, with successful applicants notified on 25 November. Applicants must be permanently employed as a Resource Teacher Learning and Behaviour, have support from their lead school or cluster manager, possess permanent rights to live and work in New Zealand, and hold a bachelor's degree such as a Bachelor of Education or equivalent. Applicants must also apply to Massey University for admission to the diploma program at the same time they apply for the award. The award is not available to those who have previously received funded support for RTLB training through this program, as recipients who fail papers must retake them at their own or their lead school's expense. This ensures the award supports new professional development opportunities for Resource Teachers seeking to advance their specialized teaching qualifications.
