About This Opportunity

Årets översättarstipendium is an encouragement scholarship offered jointly by Natur & Kultur and Sveriges Författarförbund (Swedish Writers' Union) to recognize and encourage newly established translators under 40 years of age. The scholarship aims to support younger, active translators who wish to continue pursuing a career in translation. Applicants must translate into Swedish from another language and must not have more than six published translations of literary works. The scholarship amount is 50,000 Swedish kronor. The scholarship committee consists of translators and authors including Margareta Flygt, Helena Fagertun, Ylva Mörk, Ulf Eriksson, and Mattias Huss, which is the same committee that administers the Årets översättning (Translation of the Year) prize.
