About This Opportunity

The Rhodes Scholarship is a prestigious postgraduate scholarship program that enables outstanding young people from Canada to study at the University of Oxford. First established in 1904 for Canadian students, over a thousand Canadians have been awarded the Scholarship since its inception. The program is administered through six regional selection committees across Canada, offering a total of eleven Scholarships each year. The Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence combined with the broader selection criteria of character, leadership, and commitment to service. The program seeks individuals who demonstrate intellectual distinction alongside concern for others, leadership potential, and the ability to make a positive impact on the world. The Rhodes Scholarship covers all university and college fees, provides a living stipend, and includes additional benefits for scholars during their time at Oxford. This Canadian program is a partnership between the Rhodes Trust and the Second Century Founder John McCall MacBain O.C. Regional distribution includes three Scholarships for the Prairie Region, two each for Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritime Region, and one each for British Columbia and Newfoundland & Labrador. Applicants must first earn the endorsement of their undergraduate institution before proceeding with the application. The Scholarship supports study across a wide range of graduate programs at the University of Oxford.
