About this opportunity
This bursary is awarded annually by the Riawunna Centre at the University of Tasmania, which provides a welcoming space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to meet, study and access academic and pastoral support and assistance. The scholarship is funded through the Federal Government's Indigenous Student Success Program (ISSP).
The scholarship is available to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students who are commencing an Honours program, or commencing or continuing postgraduate coursework or research at the University of Tasmania. Selection is based on academic merit. Recipients are required to engage with the Riawunna Centre, including participating in and attending Riawunna activities and events, and must provide a short written report at the end of each semester to the Centre's Head of Service.
Applicants must meet the Commonwealth definition of Aboriginality: being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, identifying as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, and being accepted as such by the community in which they live. To retain the award, recipients must achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.
