About this opportunity
The Richard and Kathy Hummel Scholarship supports students majoring in Sociology or Criminology and Criminal Justice at Eastern Illinois University. Recipients must have completed at least 18 hours of Sociology or Criminology coursework and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and a major GPA of at least 3.0. The scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated responsibility through part-time work to support themselves or pay college expenses, and/or through regular participation in service organizations or volunteer work for community service or improvement. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in writing by submitting a quality research paper written for a Sociology or Criminology course, along with a resume detailing their qualifications. Recipients must have at least one semester of full-time enrollment (minimum 12 semester hours) remaining after receiving the award. The scholarship is renewable, allowing recipients to apply again if they continue to meet the eligibility criteria. The award is announced in the Spring semester and disbursed in the Fall semester.
