About This Opportunity

The Richard and Patricia Dremuk Study Abroad Award provides support for research and scholarly related travel for students at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. This award supports study abroad travel for a summer program of at least 28 days, a semester, or a year. Awards are limited to travel in the Western hemisphere in countries other than the United States that speak Spanish, Portuguese, and French as their primary language, with Canada and Mexico excluded. Eligible destinations include Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Student travel funds can be used to support expenses within reasonable limits including air, train, bus, or taxi fare, car or van rental, gas for personal vehicles, and lodging expenses. Students must apply at least six months before scheduled departure, and applications are reviewed by the Study Abroad Office. Recipients are selected by a committee appointed by the Provost. Travel support cannot be provided for travel that has already occurred, and students applying in the Spring cycle would study abroad the following Spring due to the six-month lead time.
