The Richard Stephens Character Scholarship is a college scholarship for traditional freshman or transfer students at Greenville University that does not have a GPA or test requirement. It is available for students who have shown evidence of character and service throughout their lives pre-college. Named after the eighth president of Greenville, Dr. Richard Stephens, this scholarship celebrates GU's mission of character and service. Stephens was a Greenville pioneer that valued a person's true character. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years and ranges from $1,500 to $3,000. Stephens Scholars are service-oriented individuals with high character who demonstrate passion and perseverance toward accomplishing long-term goals, are diligent and show academic determination, value others and seek to serve those around them, and aim to change the world believing that even small things can make a huge difference.
