About this opportunity
The Rick Martin Scholarship honors Rick Martin, a freshman member of the 2003 men's basketball team who lost his life on October 16th on the second day of pre-season practice while playing the sport he loved. Rick was born in Boston and discovered his love of basketball at age 12, competing in numerous youth leagues. He concluded his high school career at Taunton High in 2002 with a sensational senior campaign and was named All-Scholastic. Rick was sought after by many colleges and universities before he chose Westfield State University to pursue his athletic and educational goals. This scholarship supports students who embody Rick's dedication to both athletics and academics. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students at Westfield State University with a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship is automatically considered based on completion of the General Application through the university's scholarship portal.
