About This Opportunity

The R.J. Torrence Memorial Scholarship was established in recognition of Dr. Robert J. Torrence, a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics from 1968-2000, and his dedication to students of mathematics. The scholarship honors Dr. Torrence's legacy by supporting undergraduate students pursuing studies in mathematics at the University of Calgary. The award is offered annually to a continuing undergraduate student in the Faculty of Science, specifically in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Students must be enrolled in a Major or Honours program in Applied or Pure Mathematics. Preference is given to students with an interest in Relativity or other areas of Mathematical Physics. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit and provides up to $1,500 to the recipient.
