About this opportunity
This PhD scholarship opportunity focuses on investigating, designing and implementing machine learning algorithms for robot vision, perception, inspection and autonomy of service robots. The project will be completed in the STEM College and is funded by a 3.5-year scholarship under a Data61/CSIRO Next Generation Artificial Intelligence program in collaboration with Applied Solar Energy. The successful candidate will develop solutions using machine learning for autonomous IoT robots specifically designed for solar panel detection and cleaning applications. The program includes a 6-month industry placement opportunity with Applied Solar Energy, providing practical experience in deploying AI and robotics solutions in renewable energy contexts. This research addresses critical challenges in maintaining solar energy infrastructure through autonomous systems and advanced machine learning techniques.
