About this opportunity
The RN Spann Scholarship is a postgraduate research scholarship designed to assist research students from the School of Social and Political Sciences with living expenses, to undertake fieldwork in public policy and administration, or attend conferences. Valued at $5000 for full-time students and $2500 for part-time students, this scholarship supports master's by research or PhD candidates conducting research in the field of public policy and administration.
This gift fund was established in 1982 as a postgraduate award to honour the memory of Richard Neville Spann, who served as Professor of Government and Public Administration from 1953 to 1981. The scholarship recognises his significant contribution to the development of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Sydney.
Recipients are selected based on academic merit and a personal statement describing how the scholarship will assist them in their studies. The scholarship value is paid as a lump sum payment and recipients must maintain receipts for all costs incurred. The scholarship cannot be deferred without prior approval and cannot be transferred to another area of research.
