About this opportunity
The Roberta Sykes Indigenous Education Foundation provides partial funding for Indigenous postgraduate students to undertake research at a leading overseas academic institution as part of their Australian postgraduate study program. Roberta Sykes Fellows must embody academic excellence and demonstrate a commitment to contributing to improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The fellowship supports doctoral research, mid-career research, and postdoctoral students pursuing full-time study overseas. Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as such, and be accepted by their community. They must provide written confirmation of Indigenous identity, proof of enrolment/acceptance at an overseas institution, a detailed budget, and demonstrate how their studies will contribute to Indigenous communities upon returning to Australia.
The application requires extensive documentation including a personal statement, CV, academic transcripts, confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity with common seal, budget template, community reference, and two academic or professional references.
