About This Opportunity

The Robertson Trust Scholarship supports Scottish undergraduate students through funding and the Journey to Success self-development programme. Established in 1992, the programme has supported young people to overcome financial and social barriers to gain the university education and career they aspire to. Each year, over 700 young people, known as Robertson scholars, are supported across Scotland's universities. The programme offers a bursary of up to £4,250 per annum to each scholar, along with comprehensive self-development opportunities. These include welcome events, leadership development, personal development training sessions, career pathways and internships, and an alumni mentoring network. The scholarship is specifically designed for 16-25 year olds in Scotland who face barriers to higher education. The Trust is particularly interested in supporting students from backgrounds currently underrepresented in higher education, including those from schools with low progression rates, low-income households, Black and Minority Ethnic groups, disabled students, those with lived experience of care, carers, students estranged from their family, Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities, and students from military families. Scholars are expected to be driven young people passionate about self-development and collaboration. As part of the programme, scholars must complete the induction process, attend two self-development workshops each year, and share written progress reports at the end of each academic term. The scholarship aims to develop an active network of peer support for Robertson scholars and requires commitment to participating in the opportunities available through the programme.
