Ron and Marg Southern Athletic Award

The Ron and Marg Southern Athletic Award is awarded annually to an undergraduate student with satisfactory academic standing who is entering the second, third, or fourth year of a degree program at the University of Alberta. The recipient must be a member of a Golden Bears or Pandas athletic team and fulfill all team requirements as required by CIS and their head coach. The award recognizes students who demonstrate academic achievement with a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a minimum of 18 units of course weight taken during the previous academic year, athletic ability, and proven leadership skills. This endowed award was established by Ron and Marg Southern to support student-athletes who balance academic excellence with athletic commitment and demonstrate leadership both on and off the field.
