About this opportunity
The Ron McInnis Men's Hockey Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time UPEI student who is a member of the UPEI Men's hockey team. The scholarship was established by Ron McInnis, UPEI BBA '78 and a respected member of Panther Hockey alumni (1974-78). Ron, a native Islander, has had a long and successful career in the financial industry, and is currently Senior Vice-President, Prairie Region, for the TD Bank. Ron attributes much of his success to his experience at the University of Prince Edward Island, both academically and as a Panther athlete. He believes that his time at UPEI, particularly playing varsity hockey, was a significant factor in how his career and life has developed. Beginning in the fall of 2009, one scholarship valued at $2,500 will be available annually to a full-time UPEI student who is a member of the UPEI hockey team and currently lives in, or is originally from Prince Edward Island. If entering first year, the recipient must have achieved an academic standing of 80% in high school, in accordance with CIAU regulations. Players in 2nd, 3rd or 4th year are eligible if they have successfully completed 18 semester hours in the previous academic year with a strong academic standing.
