About this opportunity
Established in 2014 in memory of Dr Ross Beever, senior scientist and mycologist at Landcare Research, this award provides financial support to students studying full-time at a postgraduate level in mycology. The award is intended to support students completing PhD, Masters, Honours or Postgraduate Diploma of Science on a topic relating to New Zealand mycology or plant pathology. Funding was initiated through a donation from conservationist Geoff Davidson and matched by the Fungal Network of NZ to establish a sustainable fund of $10,000. Funds are managed by the Ross Beever Memorial Trust, established as a Charitable Trust in 2015. The award may be applied at the student's discretion to support field work, study-related travel, data analysis, reporting, living expenses, or any combination of these purposes. Selection considers academic merit and other scholarships held, and successful recipients are encouraged to publish their research results.
