About This Opportunity

The Rowland and Ethel Slusser Jones Scholarship honors the legacy of two pioneers from Waterville, Washington who believed strongly in the power of education and giving back to their community. Rowland and Ethel Mae Slusser Jones, born in 1912 to pioneer farming families in Waterville, chose to gift their estate to establish this scholarship fund through the Community Foundation of North Central Washington. Though they had no children of their own, they were surrounded by nieces and nephews and felt blessed by their upbringing in Waterville. This scholarship is available to graduating seniors from Waterville High School who demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue higher education. The scholarship supports students enrolling full-time at accredited colleges, universities, or craft, art, or trade schools immediately following their high school graduation. Recipients must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrate a commitment to their education. The scholarship is paid over two years and requires recipients to provide updates showing educational progress and successful completion of their first academic year to continue receiving funding in the second year. This scholarship reflects the Jones' strong sense of community and their desire to help future generations of Waterville graduates achieve their educational goals.
