About This Opportunity

The RS/SCI Studentship scheme was established with a legacy left to SCI and the Royal Society (RS) by former SCI life member Sydney Andrew. The program provides funding for two Royal Society Fellows, giving them the opportunity to enlist a PhD student to support their research project. SCI has partnered with the Royal Society to fund PhD studentships that complement the existing Royal Society Industry Fellowship Scheme. These studentships support academic research into 'neglected science' - areas of science that, although of importance in agriculture and the chemical industry, receive scant attention from academic research. Industry Fellowship applicants can include a request for a PhD student in support of their research, with SCI currently funding a maximum of one PhD studentship for a successful Fellowship applicant per year, working in an appropriate research area.
