About this opportunity
The Rural and Islands Bursary Fund offers existing UHI students the opportunity to apply for up to £1,000 of support for their studies. Thanks to the generosity of the Witherby Publishing Group Charitable Trust, this fund supports at least 10 students from rural and isolated communities in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The bursary is designed to be as flexible as possible to meet the various needs of UHI's rural and island students.
Bursaries will be awarded for specific aspects of a student's studies which they would otherwise be unable to participate in. This includes travel to attend conferences, work placements or field studies, equipment, books or other study materials, and support for unexpected financial circumstances which might affect a student's ability to focus and achieve their potential.
Eligible students must be currently undertaking a course at UHI, either full-time or part-time, be Scottish students, and be resident in a rural or island location. The fund aims to maximize its ability to support students who face challenges due to their geographic location in the Highlands and Islands region.
