About This Opportunity
The Safe Spaces call for proposals invites applications for projects that develop new practice-oriented knowledge about how the planning, design, use and management of the built environment can contribute to increased sense of safety and/or prevent crime. The call is implemented within the framework of the national research programme for sustainable spatial planning. Projects should focus on public and semi-public built environments such as squares, streets, parks, car parks, stairwells, or station areas. The call emphasizes collaboration between researchers, practitioners and stakeholders to develop relevant practice-oriented knowledge that is directly applicable. Projects may address design and spatial perspectives, renovation, use and experiences of places, different groups' perspectives, inclusive design, collaboration models, policy and regulatory issues, participation, evaluation of methods, and methodological development. The knowledge produced must be clearly relevant in a Swedish context but may include lessons learned from international examples.
