About This Opportunity

The Saint Andrew's Society of the State of New York offers scholarships to Scottish students wishing to study for a postgraduate master's degree in the United States. For the academic year 2025-2026, the Society is offering two scholarships, each with a maximum value of $45,000 USD. The scholarship is tenable at universities in the United States within a radius of 250 miles of New York City, or within the Washington DC area. If a suitable course cannot be found within this area, the Society will consider allowing the scholarship to be held at another university in the United States. Candidates must be Scottish by birth or descent and are expected to have current knowledge of Scotland and Scottish current affairs, demonstrating the ability to serve as good ambassadors for Scotland. The scholarship is designed for graduates of Scottish universities, or of Oxford or Cambridge, who have completed their first degree no earlier than 2025, or students who expect to complete their first degree in 2026. It is important to note that the scholarship is insufficient to fully fund a year's study in the United States, and candidates are responsible for researching total costs and seeking additional funding sources. Applications must be submitted through the candidate's UK university rather than directly to the Society.
