About This Opportunity

The Sam Muldoon Caddy Scholarship honors Sam Muldoon, whose life was shaped by golf from age nine when he started as a caddy at Ohio State University's golf course. His work as a caddy helped finance his college education at The Ohio State University, where he lettered his senior year in 1960, after being part of three Ohio High School State Championships at Columbus Aquinas. After college and law school, Sam launched a successful law practice and remained a dedicated golf member at Brookside Golf & Country Club for over 40 years, serving as President in 1983. Sam was a strong supporter of the Brookside caddy program and served as a mentor for new caddies, believing that "the best thing you could do for the game of golf was to support the caddy program." This scholarship reflects his gratitude for the opportunities golf provided him and his desire for others to enjoy the virtues of the game. The scholarship supports current caddies at Brookside Golf & Country Club who are pursuing higher education, continuing Sam's legacy of helping young people finance their education through the caddy program he so valued.
