Samantha E. Middendorf Memorial Journalism Scholarship

The Samantha E. Middendorf Memorial Journalism Scholarship supports full-time undergraduate students majoring in journalism at Eastern Illinois University. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate commitment to a journalism career through a 250-word statement explaining career objectives. Current students must have shown significant participation with the Daily Eastern News (DEN), while incoming students must show interest in participating. The scholarship gives preference to students with volunteer service in fields relating to journalism, writing, education, music, animal welfare, and/or domestic violence programs, and to those with a special interest in entertainment reporting. Financial need may be considered as a tie-breaker. Recipients may reapply for the award provided they continue to meet the criteria. The award is announced in the Spring semester and paid in the Fall semester.
