About This Opportunity

The Samworth Brothers Community Opportunity Fund supports deserving community and sports projects close to Samworth Brothers' locations. Originally established as the Sports Opportunity Fund in 2013 following the success of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, the Fund helps young people become more active and supports initiatives that benefit their communities. The Fund focuses on two main areas: sport (supporting clubs where sport is the main focus) and food & nutrition (supporting organizations focused on food, nutrition, and cooking skills). Since its inception, the Fund has made awards exceeding £2 million benefitting over 75 clubs and organisations. The Fund primarily provides support to clubs and organizations working with young people under 18 in hard to reach and disadvantaged groups, including those with disabilities. Awards are typically made to extend capacity, such as getting more people qualified or trained, putting on new events or sessions for different age groups, and extending to new locations to reach more young people.
