About this opportunity
The Sanctuary Scholarship is designed for individuals seeking asylum and those who have a form of protection from an asylum claim who are not able to access funding from government student finance. The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support including a full tuition fee waiver, a cash bursary of £4,000, and financial support equivalent to £10,000 towards accommodation. Recipients also receive guaranteed accommodation in University halls of residence for 52 weeks per year if desired. The support is available for every year of full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught study. In addition to financial support, scholarship recipients are assigned a dedicated Student Welfare Advisor for ongoing support throughout their studies, with mandatory meetings at least four times per year. Recipients also receive specialized support from the Centre for Academic Development, including a named contact, one-to-one sessions covering study skills, technology familiarization, and assignment planning, as well as priority booking for appointments and Academic English support. Applicants with refugee or humanitarian protection status are also eligible for contextual offers, which provide entry requirements up to three grades below standard requirements.
