About This Opportunity

The UCC Sanctuary Scholarship is designed specifically for asylum seekers and refugees who are ineligible for State educational supports and living within commutable distance from University College Cork. The scholarship provides financial support to enable access to undergraduate degree programmes at UCC through the CAO application route. The scholarship includes a fee waiver and bursary to cover educational costs, though accommodation is not included in this award. This initiative reflects UCC's commitment to providing educational opportunities to individuals from displaced and vulnerable populations who would otherwise face significant barriers to higher education. Scholarships will not be offered to those who already hold a university or college degree. The application process is conducted in two parts: Part 1 covers personal details and eligibility criteria, while Part 2 involves submission of a personal statement after receiving an offer of place through the CAO. When there are more applicants than available scholarships, decisions are made based on the personal statement submissions.
