About this opportunity
The Sarah and George William Grier, Jr. Scholarship Fund provides annual scholarships for outstanding college-bound Central High School or Howard High School seniors who intend to pursue a college curriculum with a major in Education and who express their goals for a career as a primary or secondary school teacher. This scholarship was created from the estate proceeds of George William Grier, Jr., a lifelong Macon resident and devoted Boy Scout leader, and his wife Sarah Coleman Hodges Grier, an outstanding educator who taught in Bibb County Schools for 29 years. The scholarship honors their legacy of service to the Macon and Bibb County community through education and volunteerism. The fund awards $1,000 scholarships annually, with two new recipients selected each year. Recipients can renew the award for up to four years if they maintain eligibility criteria and complete required follow-ups.
