About this opportunity
The Saranac Lake Public School Education Fund at Adirondack Community Foundation supports individuals and programs that will nurture open minds, acceptance of differences, and exploration of controversy in a spirit of serious, respectful inquiry. This includes symposia, professional development, the arts, debates, speakers, materials, research and more. The fund is created to enhance the education of students attending Saranac Lake public schools to recognize the role public education plays in preserving our open society and our freedoms. Internal applications from students and faculty, as well as outside organizations seeking to serve the student population will be considered. Recent programs that have received funding include the Harvard Model United Nations Program, symposia on class and civic engagement, multicultural programs, news media literacy programs, diversity and inclusion committee work, and high school writing retreats.
