About this opportunity
The Sasakawa Fellowship Fund for Japanese Language Education (SFFJLE) Undergraduate Scholarship supports New Zealand undergraduate students studying Japanese language at any tertiary institution in New Zealand. Established in March 1995 by an endowment from the Nippon Foundation to Massey University, the scholarship aims to foster Japanese language education in New Zealand through the training of Japanese language teachers and provision of fellowships to students pursuing Japanese-related studies. The scholarship provides $15,000 NZD over three years' duration to one recipient annually. Recipients must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership qualities, and a strong commitment to Japanese language study. SFFJLE Fellows are encouraged to participate in the NF-JLEP Support Programmes, including the Visit Japan Program for Primary and Secondary School Teachers and Research Grants for young researchers to conduct language and education-related research at Japanese institutions.
