About this opportunity
The Schlegel Award for Research in Aging was established in 2004 by Dr. Ron Schlegel, a former faculty member and long-time friend and supporter of the University of Waterloo. This annual research award supports students studying in the area of aging within the graduate program in Health at the University of Waterloo.
The award is designated for outstanding students who demonstrate both academic merit and financial need. Academic merit is based on first year graduate studies standing, and recipients must be enrolled in their second year or higher (minimum fourth term) in a graduate program in the Faculty of Health. Students must be conducting research specifically in the area of aging.
This is an Ontario Student Opportunities Trust Fund (OSOTF) Award, which is exclusively open to Ontario residents who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Recipients must have resided in Ontario for 12 months prior to beginning their post-secondary education. Students must apply to OSAP for the term in which the award is due and demonstrate financial need through their budget application.
The award value varies from $4,000 to $6,000 CAD, though the value and/or number of awards may change from year to year. The final selection is made by the Faculty of Health Associate Dean, Graduate Studies and Research.
