About this opportunity

This postgraduate research scholarship has been established to provide financial assistance to a PhD student who is undertaking research into neural innervation of the kidneys and the heart. The scholarship is offered to domestic students within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. Recipients must be supervised by the Westmead Applied Research Centre (WARC) Principal Investigator and co-supervised by Dr Pierre Qian. The scholarship provides a stipend allowance of $30,000 per annum for up to two years, with the possibility of applying for an extension of up to 12 months subject to approval. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate a medical background, willingness to conduct or learn interventional procedures in large animal models, histology techniques and tissue stains, interest in medical technology innovation, and interest in cardiovascular medicine, cardiac electrophysiology, or interventional cardiology.

Review process

Selection based on academic merit, cover letter, and feedback from academic referees. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview. Selection committee comprises researchers from the Westmead Applied Research Centre and a Faculty of Medicine and Health Academic Leader.
