About this opportunity

The School of Classics at the University of St Andrews offers a scholarship to 2025 entrant postgraduate research (PhD) Classics students for the duration of their three-year course. The scholarship aims to widen access to students from groups traditionally excluded or under-represented in academia, including ethnic minorities, students with disabilities, first-generation university students, and those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The award covers full tuition fees (Home or Overseas) plus up to £19,737 per annum for maintenance costs, NHS surcharge (if applicable), one return flight per year, and visa costs. Preference may be given to applicants who self-identify as members of excluded or under-represented minorities, those from households with income less than £34,000, and applicants from developing economies as defined by the United Nations. Applicants must apply through the Scholarships and Funding catalogue in My Application after submitting their PhD application. One personal reference supporting the eligibility criteria is required.
