School of Classics Widening Access PhD Scholarship

University of St Andrews Original Source

About This Opportunity

The School of Classics at the University of St Andrews offers a scholarship to a 2025 entrant postgraduate research (PhD) Classics student for the duration of their three-year course. The scholarship aims to widen access to students from groups traditionally excluded or under-represented in academia. The award covers full tuition fees (Home or Overseas) and provides up to £19,737 per annum for maintenance, NHS surcharge (if applicable), one return flight per year, and visa costs. In making decisions about the scholarship award, consideration is given to applicants who self-identify as members of excluded or under-represented minorities, those historically underrepresented in classics (students from ethnic minorities, students with disabilities, first-generation university students), applicants from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, those with household income less than £34,000, and applicants from developing economies as defined by the United Nations.
