About this opportunity

This scholarship was established in 2025 by the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation (DESI) through the Quantum and Advanced Technologies Talent Building program. It is administered by the School of Mathematics and Physics, Faculty of Science at The University of Queensland. The scholarship supports Honours students conducting research in advanced technology fields including quantum technologies, compound semi-conductors, superconductors, photonics, and micro-electromechanical systems. The award provides $10,000 plus additional value-add components for one year of study. Up to 23 scholarships are available, with the selection committee aiming to award 50% of scholarships to candidates who identify as women, non-binary, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons, and/or those from regional, rural or remote backgrounds. Eligible applicants must be enrolled or intending to enroll in an Honours program in one of the specified research areas. Both domestic and international students may apply. Selection is based on the proposed research project, travel plans, research development goals, and a personal statement outlining why the applicant deserves the scholarship.
